  • Alesha Dixon was born on 7 October 1978 in Welwyn Garden City, which is not far from London. Dixon has six siblings. Even though the young girl had an amazing voice, she never dreamed about becoming a famous singer. In fact, she decided to get an education as a PE teacher. While studying, Alesha was working for Ladbrokes.

Everything changed when the young woman met a music producer on a train. Suddenly, she realized how important music and dancing was to her. She left college and enrolled in a dancing academy. There, Dixon met her future college, a celebrity-to-be Sabrina Washington. The young women found two more singers and formed a band, which they called Mis-Teeq. In 2000, the group released its first single “Why?”.

Soon after the release of the single, which didn’t manage to become commercially successful at first, one of the members left the group. Regardless of the lineup changes, the band continued on its way to success. It finally came with a remix of the first single.

A year later, the band recorded its first LP, Lickin' On Both Sides. In 2003, the group presented its next album, Eye Candy. The first album became platinum in the UK. The second earned a gold certification. Even though Mis-Teeq worked for only 6 years (1999- 2005), the group managed to record seven successful singles, which consecutively appeared in the top -10 of the UK Single Singles Chart. The band was nominated for such prestigious awards as BRIT and MOBO. Even though there were rumors about the band’s reunion, it never happened.

  • After Mis-Teeq’s disbanding, Alesha started working on a solo career and married a famous British rapper MC Harvey. They divorced a year later. It was a tough period for the singer. Even though she was immersed in personal problems, Alesha worked hard trying to become famous. Soon she signed a contract with Polydor Records. The singer used all her forces to come up with a stellar debut LP, and she almost managed it.

In 2006, Alesha released her first two solo singles “Lipstick” and “Knockdown”. Both of them reached high spots on the UK Singles Chart. They also became part of her debut LP, Fired Up. Even though the album didn’t manage to get into the popular charts (it only appeared on the 54th spot of the Japanese chart), the music industry players noticed the talented singer. Many fans tried to book Alesha Dixon for private events. The young woman often agreed for promotional purposes.

The big success came to the singer in 2008 when she released a hit single “The Boy Does Nothing”. It reached the fifth spot on the UK Singles Chart and appeared on high positions of many European charts. The song was especially popular in Spain, where it earned two platinum certifications. It also managed to get gold statuses in the UK, Australia, and Finland. More than a million copies were sold all over the world.

The song became a part of Alesha’s second LP, The Alesha Show. It’s worth noting that the singer was so popular at the time that many labels fought for the right to release her albums. The LP climbed to the 11th spot of the UK Albums Chart and appeared in the charts of Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, and many other countries. In the UK, the album went platinum. Besides “The Boy Does Nothing”, the album featured such hits as “Breathe Slow”, “Let’s Get Excited”, and “To Love Again”.

In 2009, the singer was invited as a judge to the dance project Strictly Come Dancing, which she won two years earlier.

In 2010, Dixon presented her third LP, The Entertainer. It climbed to the 84th spot of the UK Albums Chart. The singles “Drummer Boy”, “Radio”, and “Every Little Part of Me” became hits. The album didn’t turn out to be famous as the predecessor. About 60,000 copies were sold.

After the album’s release, Alesha recorded several songs with other artists and devoted her time to working on TV.

In 2015, the singer presented a new LP, Do It For Love, which became a little more successful than its predecessor.

In 2016, together with Wretch 32, Alesha recorded a popular single “Stop”. The same year, she made a cameo appearance in the comedy, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie. A year later, she was invited to appear as a judge on The X Factor.

Dixon continues working on her music career. She was nominated for many prestigious awards, including MOBO and BRIT Awards.
