The rock group The Gaslight Anthem was formed in New Jersey, in 2006. The current lineup includes Brian Fallon, Alex Rosamilia, Alex Levine, and Benny Horowitz. The band is particularly famous for such hits as “The ’59 Sound”, “45”, and “American Slang”. Once The Gaslight Anthem appeared on the New Jersey music scene, it received an impressive recognition from the fans and the critics. Even though today, the musicians are on hiatus (since 2015), they are still popular in their native New Jersey and all over the world.
The Gaslight Anthem plays the classic punk rock music, following such bands as Misfits and The Bouncing Souls, which were also formed in New Jersey. The band was initially created by the vocalist and guitarist Brian Fallon, who was already known to the public for his work with the band The Charming Man. At first, the group’s lineup was changing at the speed of light together with the music and sound. When Fallon was joined by Alex Rosamilia, Alex Levine, and Benny Horowitz, the band finally found its style. The musicians came up with the name The Gaslight Anthem and decided to play cheerful punk rock. The group was constantly giving live concerts. But the musicians still managed to have time to record studio albums.
In 2007, the band released the first studio LP Sink or Swim. Even though the album wasn’t very successful, it got some good reviews from the critics. The popularity came to the band with the release of the second album The ’59 Sound (2008). The single with the same name reached the 35th spot on Alternative rock Billboard chart. After the release of this album, the band actively toured the USA and Europe. They worked as opening acts for other musicians and gave solo concerts.
In 2010, the band released the third album American Slang. The musicians tried to present the public a new sound. They focused on more adult music inspired by other groups. The experiment was a success and the band received international recognition.
The Gaslight Anthem released two more successful LPs Handwritten (2012) and Get Hurt (2014). Both of them got to the high spots on the chart. In August 2015, the group went on an indefinite hiatus.
