Alesso’s real name is Alessandro Lindblad. He was born 7 July 1991 in Stockholm. The Swedish DJ has a partial Italian heritage.
Alessandro enjoyed classical music since childhood. At seven, he learned how to play the piano. However, when he was a teenager, Alesso suddenly turned to electronic dance music. It became his hobby and, eventually, profession.
In 2010, the young man released his first EP, Alesso, which brought him popularity. At the beginning of next year, Sebastian Ingrosso, the vocalist of a supergroup Swedish House Mafia, offered the musician a chance to work together. He taught Alesso the basics of DJing and helped record professional tracks. With such impressive support coupled with substantial talent, Alesso immediately made it into DJ Magazine’s top-100 DJ list.
Together with his tutor, Alesso recorded a single “Calling”, which came in second on Beatport’s chart and became one of the most popular songs in the EDM industry in 2011.
The popularity of the DJ continued expanding. Soon, he got a chance to perform at a popular music festival Creamfields. Madonna invited him as an opening act for her MDNA concert tour.
In 2012, Alesso released one more original track “Years”, recorded together with Matthew Koma. It brought the musician the 20th position in DJ Magazine’s top-100 Best DJs of 2012 list.
In 2013, the artist made it to the 13th spot of the abovementioned list after releasing a single “Under Control” and appearing on such festivals as “Coachella”, “Electric Daisy Carnival”, “Ultra Music Festival”, and “Tomorrowland”. In 2014, the artist signed a contract with an American label, Def Jam Recordings, and recorded a new track “Rear The Roof Up”. The music video for the song was released on a mobile app Snapchat.
In 2015, Alesso presented his debut LP, Forever, which featured such popular singles as "Heroes (We Could Be)" and "Tear the Roof Up". The former was officially released in December 2015 and soon appeared on BBC Radio 1.
In October 2016, Alesso and a singer from Taiwan, Jolin Tsai, performed a single “I Wanna Know” on a music festival Storm in China. The joint performance of these two talented musicians meant to symbolize conquering the differences between East and West in electronic music. Soon after the performance, Alesso worked with another Asian artist Chen (from a popular Korean k-pop boy band Exo) to re-record his single “Years”. The single was aired on SM Station.
In a few days, Alesso released a new single “Take My Breath Away”. The song was presented at the Ultra Music Festival Taiwan. The track earned immense popularity among Asian fans and reached the 56th spot of the Swedish national chart.
