Charles Otto Puth was born in New Jersey, the USA on the 2nd December 1991. He is a pop singer who rose to fame with the help of YouTube. His mother Debra is a music teacher who produced commercials for HBO channel. Charlie also has two younger siblings whose names are Stephen and Mikaela. This young talent is able to identify and recreate music without a reference note. It was Charlie’s mother who introduced him to the world of music. He listened to classical music and started to learn how to play piano at the age of 4. At the age of 10, he got interested in jazz music and was chosen as a member of a summer youth jazz ensemble at Count Basie Theatre's Cool School in New Jersey when he was 12. Sometime later, the theatre invited him to take part in the Charlie Brown production. He recorded and produced his first album entitled “Have a Merry Charlie Christmas”. He sold it to the people in his neighborhood and earned his first $600. He attended Manhattan School of Music Pre-College where he majored in jazz piano and classical studies. He was enrolled in Berklee College that he graduated from in 2013. He majored in music production and engineering. Charlie decided to create his YouTube account back in September 2009. He uploaded acoustic covers made by him to this account. In October 2011, he and Emily Luther signed a contract with Ellen DeGeneres label. Ellen said that she found their acoustic cover on Adele’s “Someone Like You” truly amazing. She also invited them to her show where they performed the song.
