Kiiara is the stage name of Kiara Saulters – an American singer born on the 24th of May 1995. The style of her music is very often compared to that of Lorde and Jhene Aiko. She recorded her first acoustic pop song called “Bring Me Back” back in 2013. After that, she was offered a contract with Atlantic label and got a chance to work with the Cataracs, David Singer-Vine, Brenton Duvall and a number of other musicians. Her single “Gold” that made her an internationally well-known rising star, was presented to the public in March 2016.
As Kiara states, she didn’t expect the song to become so popular. She was at her friend’s in LA working on music when the news about “Gold” that turned out to be a hit reached her. Kiara adds that neither she nor her friend could predict how great would be the success when uploading it on SoundCloud. The fact is that the single was listened to more than 180.000 times within the first 8 days of its online life. Moreover, the song appeared to be on the Billboard Top 100 musical chart in May 2016.
The song is the result of her collaboration with the producer Felix Snow who worked with Selena Gomez. The single attracted the attention of a popular DJ who’s known all over the world – DJ Zane Lowe. He included the track in the schedule of his radio station Beats 1. Of course, this also significantly contribute to the popularity of the song.
