Kim Petras – singer from Germany
Kim Petras was born in Cologne, Germany on 27 August 1992. It’s worth mentioning that Kim was initially a boy. Since childhood, Petras felt as if she was a girl. Kim’s parents showed an understanding about her wish to switch genders. Today, everyone knows Petras as a talented female singer.
Petras’ career took off in 2007 when she recorded several music videos and posted them online. Kim performed her own songs rather than covers that most amateur singers start with. The artist’s work was noticed by a German producer, Fabian Goerg. He called Kim and offered her a contract with his own label, Joyce Records.
In 2008, the singer presented two new songs, which were produced by Goerg. The lead single “Last Forever” was uploaded to the internet and immediately became popular on MySpace and YouTube. Later, in September, Kim recorded her debut official single “Fade Away”. Initially, she performed it in German. In 2011, the artist presented her debut EP, One Piece of Tape.
In 2013, Petras began working with producers from The Stereotypes and Aaron Joseph. Soon, she presented a new song “STFU”, which eventually appeared on SoundCloud in 2014. For her hard work on social media, Kim climbed to the 19th spot of Billboard's Artist Chart.
