Kim Petras – singer from Germany

Kim Petras was born in Cologne, Germany on 27 August 1992. It’s worth mentioning that Kim was initially a boy. Since childhood, Petras felt as if she was a girl. Kim’s parents showed an understanding about her wish to switch genders. Today, everyone knows Petras as a talented female singer.

Petras’ career took off in 2007 when she recorded several music videos and posted them online. Kim performed her own songs rather than covers that most amateur singers start with. The artist’s work was noticed by a German producer, Fabian Goerg. He called Kim and offered her a contract with his own label, Joyce Records.

In 2008, the singer presented two new songs, which were produced by Goerg. The lead single “Last Forever” was uploaded to the internet and immediately became popular on MySpace and YouTube. Later, in September, Kim recorded her debut official single “Fade Away”. Initially, she performed it in German. In 2011, the artist presented her debut EP, One Piece of Tape.

In 2013, Petras began working with producers from The Stereotypes and Aaron Joseph. Soon, she presented a new song “STFU”, which eventually appeared on SoundCloud in 2014. For her hard work on social media, Kim climbed to the 19th spot of Billboard's Artist Chart.

In 2017, Joyce Records announced plans for the upcoming debut LP. Petras started working on the album back in 2015. In August 2017, she presented "I Don’t Want It All". After that, she recorded "Hillside Boys" and "Hills". The latter was created with the assistance of Baby E.

In October 2017, Petras presented a music video for the single "I Don’t Want It All", filmed with Paris Hilton. After that, the singer recorded a new single “Faded” with the rapper Lil Aaron. At the end of the year, Kim and Jay Park worked on a single “Unlock It” for the British singer Charli XCX.

In February 2018, the artist released a new song, “Heart to Break”, which was later called the best track in her career so far. After some time, Kim filmed a music video for the song with the assistance of Nikita Dragun. At the end of the month, the singer presented an EP, Spotify Singles, recorded with the support of BunHead.

Kim started working closely with Lil Aaron, helping him record the next album. One of the tracks created together was “Anymore”. The same year, she presented "All The Time" and "Can't Do Better". In September and October, Kim Petras headlined Troye Sivan’s tour called The Bloom Tour.

In October 2018, the singer presented a new EP, Turn Off the Light, Vol. 1. The album reached the 21st spot of Top Heatseekers chart. Many fans tried to book Kim Petras for private events at the time.

In 2019, Kim recorded three singles, which ended her electropop era. The producer was Dr Luke. The single “1,2,3 dayz up” was recorded with the assistance of SOPHIE. Initially, Kim called it “We Don’t Stop”. Together with Lil Aaron, Petras recorded “Homework”. After that, she worked with Cheat Codes to record “Feeling of Falling”. The song became a hit and reached the 23rd spot of the US Dance/Electronic Songs Chart. Sometime later, she presented another single "If U Think About Me".

In April, Kim Petras recorded a single “Broken”, which became the leading track for her upcoming LP, Clarity. The song reached the 16th spot on iTunes. The young artist was recording one single for the album per week. The LP finally came out in June 2019 with the support of Bun Head. It reached the 7th spot on the Top Heatseekers Chart. After the release, the singer embarked on a Broken Tour.

After coming back from the tour, the artist started working on a new LP. Initially. It was planned as the second part of the EP, Turn Off The Light, Vol. 2 but then turned into an LP, Turn Off the Light.
