Symere Woods was born on 31 July 1994 in Philadelphia. After realizing that he will dedicate his life to music, the young man came up with a pseudonym Lil Uzi Vert. In 2014, Vert released his first mixtape The Real Uzi. His road to success began when he caught the attention of DJ and rap producer Don Cannon. Cannon heard Vert’s performance on the radio and noticed his outstanding skills. Some time later, Lil signed his first contracts with Generation Now and Atlantic Records. In 2015, Vert, together with ASAP Ferg and Rich The Kid worked on Carnage’s music video to the single "WDYW". Later that year, the artist recorded his second mixtape Luv Is Rage. He invited Young Thug and Wiz Khalifa to help with the project. Together they recorded 16 songs.
In February 2016, Vert released a leading single from the third mixtape. The song "Money Longer" reached the 54th place on Billboard Hot 100. Later, it received two platinum certificates. The second mixtape single, "You Was Right", came out in April. It was produced by Metro Boomin. The third mixtape Lil Uzi Vert vs. World (2016) was a hit. It reached the 12th spot on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums Chart and the 37th spot on Billboard 200. It stayed in the charts for 55 weeks in a row.
Eventually, the song received a golden status in the USA, selling over 500,000 copies. In June, Vert made it into XXL’s list of Top Freshmen of 2016. The next mixtape came out on 31 July 2016, on Vert’s 22nd birthday. The album was named The Perfect Luv Tape. The song "Do What I Want" was featured in the video game NBA 2K18.
