Lukas Graham – Danish pop and soul band
Lukas Graham was established in 2011 in Copenhagen. Initially, the boy band’s lineup consisted of vocalist Lukas Forchhammer, bassist and back vocalist Magnus Larsson, drummer and back vocalist Mark "Lovestick" Falgren, and keyboardists Anders Kirk and Morten Ristorp. In 2012, Kirk and Ristorp left the band. The latter came back in 2016.
Initially, the band recorded amateur videos to their own songs. They made these videos available on the Internet. In 2011, they uploaded two singles "Drunk in the Morning" and "Criminal Mind" to the band’s Facebook account. The songs earned thousands of views. The musicians became famous overnight. Different labels offered them contracts. Eventually, the band signed up with Copenhagen Records. It’s hard to find another European band in music history, which managed to sell 17,000 tickets to its concert a few months after being established.
In 2012, the group officially released the following songs, "Drunk in the Morning", "Better Than Yourself (Criminal Mind Pt 2)", and "Ordinary Things". They became huge hits in Norway, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Spain, France, the UK, and the Netherlands. In 2012, the group gave 17 official concerts. The same year, they released the debut LP, Lukas Graham. It sold 80,000 copies in the first week and eventually, earned six platinum certifications in Denmark. The LP topped the Danish Alums Chart. The same year the band won a prize at Danish Music Awards for New Danish Name of the Year.
