Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was born in 1991, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The rapper was growing up in his aunt’s family with his cousin Quavo. Both enjoyed playing football in high school. However, during one of the games, Offset seriously hurt his foot. The injury put an end to his dreams of becoming a professional football player.

In 2009, after finishing high school, Offset and Quavo decided to form a hip-hop group. They were joined by Quavo’s nephew, Takeoff. In the beginning, the rappers chose Polo Club as the name for the group. Later, they changed it to Migos. In August 2011, the artists released the debut mixtape, which didn’t get noticed by the critics or rap fans.

In June 2012, the rappers worked on their second mixtape, No Label. It caught the attention of a famous producer Zaytoven. He started working with the team. By June 2013, the singers released a new mixtape Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas). It featured the work of such artists as Gucci Mane, Trinidad James, Riff Raff, and Soulja Boy. The album climbed to the 74th position of US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. The single “Versace”, which came out in July was highly successful, reaching the 33rd spot of US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. The same year, Offset was arrested and went to jail for violating parole, which he was under for breaking and entering.

After getting out of jail, Offset started working with the group again. In February 2014, Migos presented a new mixtape, No Label 2. In February 2015, the artists released a new single “One Time”, which reached the 37th spot of US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. Inspired by the success, the trio started working on the debut LP.

However, in April 2015, when the group was performing in Georgian Southern University, the police suddenly noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the group’s van. They searched it and found drugs and weapons. All three artists were arrested. Soon, Quavo and Takeoff were released on bail. However, Offset stayed behind bars. While awaiting trial, the singer got into a serious fight with another prisoner. As a result, he didn’t get a chance to leave on bail. Considering his criminal past, Offset had to stay in prison.

In July 2015, while Offset was still in jail, Migos released the debut LP, Yung Rich Nation, which the rapper helped record. The new album was successful among the fans. It came in third on US Top Rap Albums Chart and settled on the 17th spot of Billboard 200.
In December 2015, Offset was released from jail after accepting a plea deal. The rapper had to serve a 5-year probation and pay a large fine.

In July 2016, Migos released an EP, 3 Way. The album earned positive reviews from the critics. The same year, the singer appeared in one of the episodes of the TV Series Atlanta, in which he played himself.

In January 2017, Migos presented its second album Culture, which topped US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and US Billboard 200.

In October, while collaborating with rappers, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin, Offset recorded his first LP, Without Warning, which featured a track called “Ric Flair Drip”. The song turned out to be highly successful, reaching the 9th spot on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. The album itself reached the 4th spot of Billboard 200 and came in 41st on the UK Albums Chart. Many fans started trying to book Offset for private events.

In January 2018, Migos released its third LP, Culture II, which immediately topped US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and US Billboard 200.

Offset continues working on solo and group projects.
