The rock band OneRepublic was formed in Colorado, in 2002. The current lineup includes Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Eddie Fisher, and Brent Kutzle. OneRepublic is particularly famous for such hits as “Apologize”, “Stop and Stare”, and “Counting Stars”. The band holds several awards, including MTV Asia Award.
OneRepublic was formed thanks to the friendship between composer and producer Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins. They got together in Colorado Springs but then moved to Los Angeles. First, they signed a contract with Columbia Records but then due to some disagreements and limitations, had to make a deal with Interscope Records.
In 2007, the band released their first single “Apologize”, which immediately became a huge hit. The song reached the 2nd spot on Billboard Hot 100 and the 3rd spot on the UK Singles Chart. At the same time, it topped a variety of European charts and got countless platinum certifications, including four by RIAA and just as many by ARIA. The single was included in the band’s first LP Dreaming Out Loud, which was released the same year.
The LP reached the 14th spot on Billboard 200 and the 2nd spot on UK Albums Chart. The album reached high spots on several European charts. By the time it was released, the OneRepublic already earned international recognition. The band made several TV appearances including a performance at the show American Island. In 2008, they went on a tour with Maroon 5 and Brandi Carlile.
