Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1992. His father was from the Dominican Republic and worked as a dancer. He died when Juan was just three years old. Ozuna’s mother couldn’t raise the boy due to a poor financial situation. So Juan grew up with his grandmother and uncle. In his interviews, Ozuna credits his grandmother for teaching him the importance of hard work.

When Juan was a teenager, he enjoyed Latin music. At the beginning of the 2000s, the aspiring artist became a fan of reggaeton. He was a big fan of such singers as Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, and De La Ghetto. In 2004, Uncle Felix gave the boy a microphone for his birthday. Juan started recording songs and uploading them to YouTube. Sometimes, he performed at a local club, El Corozal.

In 2010, Ozuna moved to his relatives in New York and enrolled in college. He continued developing an impressive musical talent. In 2012, the young man recorded his first song “Imaginando”, which caught the attention of music fans. Initially, the singer decided to adopt a pseudonym J OZ but then settled for using part of his own name, Ozuna.

In 2014, the artist uploaded his songs “No me eches la culpa”, “Mírame”, and “En otro mundo” to the Internet, trying to catch the attention of the labels. Eventually, he signed a contract with Golden Family Records. The same year, Juan released a single “Si No Te Quiere”, recorded with the rapper D.OZi and Farruko. The song became a hit all over Latin America and reached the 19th spot on Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart.

In 2015, the singer released two highly popular singles, “Si tu marido no te quiere” and “No quiere enamorarse”. He spent the majority of the year giving concerts all over Latin America and Europe, earning more and more popularity. Many organizers tried to book Ozuna for private events, and he sometimes agreed.

In 2016, Juan worked on his debut LP and continued releasing non-album singles. At the beginning of the year, he recorded “La Occasion” together other popular Latin artists. Then he released the remix of “No quiere enamorarse” with the assistance of a popular Latin singer Daddy Yankee. The music video for the song collected millions of views on YouTube and came in 35th on Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart. Then Ozuna recorded a remix of “Si tu marido no te quiere” with Arcangel and Farruko. Another single “En La Intimidad” followed shortly.

The single “Te Vas” reached the 31st spot on Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart. The music video collected over 690 million views on YouTube. At the end of the year, Ozuna presented a single form his upcoming LP. “Dile que tu me quieres” came in eighth on Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart and climbed to the 33rd spot of the official Spanish chart.

In August 2017, the singer presented the debut LP, Odisea, which easily topped US Top Latin Albums Chart and stayed there for 30 weeks. The album climbed to the 22nd position of Billboard 200. It earned positive results from the critics and earned a prize at Billboard Music Awards for Top Latin Album.

Several songs from the album came out as singles and earned impressive popularity. “Tu foto”, “Se Preparó”, and “Síguelo bailando” reached high spots on Billboard Hot Latin Songs Chart. To promote the LP, the singer went on Odisea World Tour of the United States, Europe, and Latin America.

In September 2018, Ozuna and a Dominican singer Natti Natasha recorded a single “Criminal”, which topped Spanish charts and climbed to a high spot of US Hot Latin Songs Chart. The music video collected over 1.7 billion views on YouTube.

In August 2018, Ozuna presented his second LP, Aura, which topped Top Latin Albums Chart and came in 7th on Billboard 200. The singer went to tour the United States and Europe to support the LP. At the end of the year, he started working on the new album, Nibiru, due out in 2019.
