Pink — American singer, songwriter, actress
Pink’s real name is Alecia Beth Moore. She was born in Pennsylvania on 8 September 1979. Alecia’s father played the guitar so she was enjoying music since babyhood. When Moore was young, she was already planning a star-studded career in the rock music industry. Alecia was inspired by such celebrities as Madonna, 2Pac, and Whitney Houston.
When she was in high school, Alecia worked with several teenage bands. That’s when she got her nickname “Pink”, which later turned into a pseudonym. Contrary to the popular opinion, the nickname didn’t stick to the girl due to her wild hair color. When she was young, Alecia was very shy and blushed a lot, hence the nickname.
In the early childhood, Pink was diagnosed with asthma, which became one of the problems she constantly needed to battle throughout her career. Her mother called Alecia’s lyrics dark and nervous. However, the girl wasn’t about to give up her dream. At 14, she started performing in the local clubs.
In 1995, Alecia Moore formed an R&B band with other girls. They called it Choice. The band sent its debut single “Key To My Heart” to LaFace Records in Atlanta. Soon, they were invited for an audition and were offered a contract. The group members agreed.
