Wilkinson – British producer and DJ
Mark Wilkinson, mostly known to his fans as simply Wilkinson, was born on 19 April 1989 in London. Not much is currently known about the artist’s childhood. He doesn’t like to talk about his private life while his songs don’t reveal much about the DJ.
Wilkinson’s career took off in 2010 with the release of the single "Moonwalker / Samurai” recorded with the assistance of RAM Records label. The track premiered in Andy C’s album, Nightlife 5.
Mark tried hard to keep the audience’s attention. Half a year later, he released a non-album single, "Every Time / Overdose”, RAM Records invited Marcus Gregg as a vocalist for the song. The single became the first one in Mark’s career for which he filmed a music video. Six months later, Wilkinson released "Tonight / Pistol Whip". It was a step toward promoting his studio albums on iTunes.
In 2012, the artist officially presented another non-album single, "Automatic / Hands Up!", which brought him mixed reviews. However, it helped Wilkinson find support from such artists as Annie Mac and MistaJam.
In December 2012, the singer announced “Need to Know / Direction", which became a promotional single for his upcoming LP. The song "Take You Higher / Crunch", which came out in April 2013, became the 2nd most popular song of the album. It climbed to the 35th spot of the UK Dance Singles Chart. The third single was “Heartbeat” recorded with P Money and Arlissa. The fourth single “Afterglow” became the most successful song on the LP. For a long while, it topped the UK Dance Singles Chart and came in 8th on the UK Singles Chart. The single also appeared on Belgian and Swiss charts, earning the artist international recognition.
The long awaited album Lazers Not Included came out in October 2013. Besides the mentioned singles, it featured nine more songs. The LP climbed the 2nd spot of the UK Dance Albums Chart and came in 46th on the UK Albums Chart. Soon after, Wilkinson released an expanded version of the album and added such songs as "Dirty Love", "Too Close", and "Half Light". The LP was recorded with the assistance of Detour City, Talay Riley, Tom Cane, Iman, and others.
In October 2014, the artist went on a long tour of the UK. He had the support of such artists as Etherwood, I See MONSTAS, and Toyboy & Robin. After the tour, many fans tried to book Wilkinson for their private events. The same year, the artist together with Shannon Saunders, whom he is currently dating, released a single “Breathe”. It was a promotional single for his next album.
In 2015, Wilkinson collaborated with many other artists. Together with TC, he recorded “Hit The Floor”. With Thabo, he works on “Hopelessly Coping”. The latter reached the 11th spot of the UK Dance Singles chart, came in 49th on the UK Singles Chart, and appeared on the 60th position of the Scottish Singles Chart.
In 2016, the artist announced his second LP, Hypnotic. He released such promotional singles as “Flatline” with Wretch 32, "Brand New", and "Sweet Lies" with Karen Harding. The latter reached the 34th spot of the UK Dance Singles Chart and came in 98th on the Scottish Singles Chart.
The second LP officially came out in April 2017 with the assistance of RAM Records. It topped the UK Dance Albums Chart and settled on the 43rd position of the UK Albums Chart. The same year, the artist recorded “Rush” with Dimension. In 2018, he worked on “Take It Up” with Sub Focus.
Wilkinson has a very busy schedule but finds time for live performances at private events.
