X Ambassadors – American rock group
X Ambassadors is an American rock group. The lineup includes Sam Harris, Casey Harris, and Adam Levin. Another band member, a guitar player Noah Feldshuh, worked with X Ambassadors until 2015. Then he decided to take a break to deal with personal problems and hasn’t returned since. Sam Harris plays the sax, guitar, and bass guitar. His brother Casey plays the keyboards and the piano. The Harris brothers were friends with Feldshuh since childhood. They met Adam Levin in 2006.
The group was formed in 2009. At that time, the musicians worked as opening acts as part of a tour of a popular singer Lights. During the tour, they were working on the songs for the first EP, Ambassadors EP.
Three years later, the group released its first studio LP, Litost. It wasn’t commercially successful, and only a limited audience noticed it. The album failed to make it into the charts. However, the independent LP allowed the band to see where they stand, and understand what they need to work on.
In 2012, X Ambassadors signed their first contract with SONGS Music Publishing label. However, the contract didn’t help them become successful immediately.
In 2013, the group came up with another EP, Love Songs Drug Songs, which finally brought them recognition from many players in the music industry. The most popular song from the album was “Stranger” recorded with Dan Reynolds. Other songs, "Unconsolable", "Brother", "Love Songs Drug Songs", "Down With Me", and "Litost" also became popular. The same year, the group went on a tour with Jimmy Eat World, Imagine Dragons, and The Mowgli’s.
A year later, X Ambassadors released one more successful EP, The Reason. They promoted the album during a tour with Panic! at the Disco and Imagine Dragons. It contained such popular songs as "Free & Lonely", "Unsteady", "The Business", "Giants", and "Jungle", recorded with Jamie N Commons. The EP reached the 7th spot on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers.
In June 2015, the musicians presented their next LP, VHS, which brought them the long-awaited popularity. The hits included "Jungle", "Renegades", "Hang On", "Unsteady", "Nervous", and "Low Life. In the weekly ratings, the LP reached the 70th spot of Billboard 200 and the 34th place on Canadian Albums Chart. Eventually, the album ended up on the 7th spot of Billboard 200 and reached high positions on numerous European charts. The single “Renegades” became the group’s most successful work to date. It earned numerous platinum certifications all over the world. After that, many fans tried to book X Ambassadors for their private events.
The group often took up offers from other musicians to become the guests of their songs and albums. In 2013, they worked on "Love of a Life" with Keljet and "Wicked Ways" with Eminem (from The Marshall Mathers LP 2). In 2014, they collaborated with The Knocks to record “Comfortable” from LP So Classic. In 2015, X Ambassadors worked with Zedd and Logic on “Transmission”. In 2017, the artists helped Eminem record “Bad Husband”.
The artists were nominated for Teen Choice Awards in 2015, Hollywood Music in Media Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and American Music Awards in 2016, and Billboard Music Awards and Teen Choice Awards in 2017.
In January 2018, the group announced their plans for recording another LP, Joyful. The release date is still unknown.
