Dakota Johnson

Dakota Mayi Johnson was born on October 4, 1989, in Texas. More than half of her family members are actors. Her mom is Melanie Griffith and her dad is Don Johnson. Dakota’s stepfather, the famous actor and producer Antonio Banderas, became the girl’s biggest influence. One of her stepbrothers is an actor as well. So there weren’t any questions about Dakota’s career even before she was born.In 1999, Johnson debuted in the comedy-drama Crazy in Alabama. Her stepfather Banderas directed the movie and her mom had the starring role. Even though Dakota herself had a small part, it was a very useful experience.

After finishing high school, Dakota decided to become a model. In 2006, she signed a contract with IMG Models agency. Three years later, after doing many different projects, Johnson was hired for MANGO advertising campaign.

In 2009, Johnson set her priorities straight and decided to become an actress. She signed a contract with William Morris Agency and landed a role in the drama The Social Network. DavidFincher’s movie was released in 2010 and became a huge hit. It was nominated for Academy Awards eight times and won three of them. Besides, the movie earned four Golden Globe Awards and many more prizes.

In 2011, while trying to combine modeling and acting, Dakota participated in a photoshoot for a successful Australian brand Wish. The same year, she worked on the movie Beastly, in which she played a supporting role of Sloan Hagen.

In 2012, Johnson appeared in four movies, including a drama For Ellen and a romantic comedy The Five-Year Engagement. Dakota was so busy on the movie sets that had to cancel all the private events she was constantly invited to. Even though she worked rather hard, Johnson wasn’t getting any leading roles.

Johnson’s first starring role was in the TV series Ben and Kate, which rain in 2012 and 2013. Dakota appeared in 16 episodes.

In 2013, Johnson finally snagged the role of her dreams. After a grueling addition, she was chosen for the role of Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey. This was Dakota’s life-turning role. It allowed the young actress to receive international recognition.

In 2013 and 2014, Johnson appeared in several movies, including Need for Speed and Cymbeline. She landed another leading role in the comedy Date and Switch.

In 2015, Fifty Shades of Grey premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. The movie broke the sales record of Sex and The City 2 and became the most sold movie with an R rating. The same year, Johnson appeared in a drama Chloe and Theo, in which she had a starring role. Dakota also worked alongside Johnny Depp on Black Mass and acted in a psychological thriller A Bigger Splash, which received several awards.

In 2016, Dakota got another leading role in the movie How to Be Single. She also worked on the next part of the Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades Darker). The movie was released in 2017.

In 2018, Johnson starred in the third part of the story - Fifty Shades Freed.
