In 1992, Castro made a deal with a famous Mexican label Fonovisa and released his debut album Agua Nueva. The LP reached the 48th spot on Billboard Top Latin Albums. The album included a hit single “No Podras’, which reached the third spot on Hot Latin Tracks. While working with Fonovisa, Castro recorded a few more successful LPs, including Un Segundo en el Tiempo, El Camino del Alma, and El Deseo de Oir Tu Voz.
In 1997, Castro left Fonovisa and signed a contract with BMG. The same year, he released an album called Lo Mejor De Mi, which topped Argentinian charts and reached the 5th place on Billboard Top Latin Albums. Cristian released several more hit albums with BMG, including Mi Vida sin Tu Amor, Azul, Amar Es, and Hoy Quiero Soñar. All of them made it into Billboard Top Latin Albums.
The peak of Castro’s career happened when he was working with BMG. He collaborated with famous songwriters and producers, attended important musical affairs. Every day different organizations tried to book Cristian Castro for their events, but it was a tough task. In 1998, Castro recorded a duet "Escondidos" with Olga Tanon. It reached the fourth spot on Hot Latin Songs chart.
In 2005, Cristian left BMG and started working with Universal, where he got a chance to collaborate with the famous producer Cachorro Lopez. With his assistance, Castro recorded the LP Dias Felices, which didn’t make it into the charts but included a hit single “Amor Eterno”, which topped Hot Latin Songs and became the first Castro’s song to make it into Billboard 100.
In 2010 and 2011, Cristian released two popular albums Viva el Principe and Mi Amigo El Principe. Both made it to the high spots of Mexican Albums Chart and Billboard Top Latin Albums.
In 2016, Cristian recorded another album called Dicen. Unfortunately, it didn’t manage to become as successful as singer’s previous work. Castro continues to record music and perform live.
