  • HAIM was formed by three Haim sisters, Danielle, Este, and Alana. They were born in Los Angeles in the family of music lovers, who enjoyed classic rock. All three girls wanted to become musicians since childhood. They performed with local groups and learned how to play different instruments. The first band they formed was called Rockinhaim. It performed at local fairs and charity events. When Este and Danielle became older, they joined the group called The Valli Girls and signed a contract with Columbia Records to record soundtracks for the movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and the animated movie Trolls. In 2006, older sisters left the group and decided to form a family trio. The third member was the youngest sister Alana. The three artists called their new band HAIM. However, they didn’t become successful immediately. Este decided to get an education at the University of California. Danielle traveled a lot. She was invited to become a guitarist for the American rock singer Jenny Lewis’ tour. By 2012, the three sisters recorded an EP, Forever, which featured a mix of musical genres, including R&B, pop, and rock. Este was a bass guitar player. Danielle became a leading guitarist while Alana played the keyboards, drums and rhythm guitar. They also found a drummer to join them. Dash Hutton helped the girls record the debut EP. The debut EP was free to download from the band’s website. That’s where it caught the attention of Polydor Records. In the summer of 2012, HAIM signed a contract with the label.

In the fall, the young women embarked on a tour of the UK. In December, they performed with a rock group, Florence and the Machine. HAIM’s hit single “Don’t Save Me”, which they recorded in October, was played on BBC Radio 1. After that, many fans wanted to book HAIM for private events. The same year, New Musical Express magazine, put the band’s debut EP on the fourth spot of its best album list of 2012. In 2013, sisters helped Kid Cudi record his third LP, Indicud. Next year, the group performed at Glastonbury Festival as backing vocals of a famous Scottish band, Primal Scream.

  • Sisters were gaining experience and popularity. In the summer of 2013, they announced the upcoming release of the debut LP, Days Are Gone, which was due out in September. The album collected numerous positive reviews from the critics. It topped the UK Albums Chart and went platinum. In 2014, the band earned a prestigious award NME as Best International Band. They started working on the next album while recording soundtracks for movies and cartoons.

In 2015, the trio was nominated for a Grammy as Best New Artist. Next spring, they released a teaser announcement of the new songs and a summer tour. In an interview to NME at the beginning of 2017, HAIM talked about the upcoming album. In April, the young women presented a promotional video “Right Now” to increase the fans’ interest in the album. The LP, Something to Tell You, came out in July 2017.Two months before the release, the girls presented a single “Want You Back”. It became a hit. To promote the album, sisters came to Saturday Night Live and performed "Want You Back" and "Little of Your Love".At the beginning of 2018, the artists announced a tour of Europe, the UK, and USA. At the end of the year, HAIM performed at VetsAid 2018 on the same stage as Don Henley, James Taylor, Ringo Starr and other celebrities. In March 2019, the young women announced their plans to headline Pitchfork Festival in Chicago. A month later, Danielle told the group’s fans about their plans for the next LP, which is due out in the summer of 2019.
