Cody Simpson

Cody Simpson was born on January 11, 1997, in Australia. He is a singer, a songwriter, and an actor. Simpson is mostly famous for his songs “iYiYi”, “All Day”, and “On My Mind”. He also performed in various films and TV shows.

When Cody was just 7 years old, he asked his parents to pay for his guitar lessons. Simpson got the inspiration from his father, who sang and played the guitar during family outings. The same year, Cody wrote his first song.

In 2009, Simpson started uploading his songs to YouTube. He was also performing other artist’s songs, including Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a Rive” and “Senorita”. Soon a famous producer Joe Campbell noticed him.

In 2010, the Simpson family moved to Los-Angeles so Cody could go on with his music career. Soon Cody released his first official single “iYiYi”, which he performed together with a rapper, Flo Rida. The single reached the 11th spot on Australian ARIA chart.

In 2010 and 2012, Cody was nominated for several awards at the Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids Choice Awards and won three of them. A year later, he won another one of these awards for Aussie's Favorite Homegrown Act.

In 2012, Cody released his first studio album Paradise. The album reached the 31st spot on the Australian ARIA album chart. A single from that album “Pretty Brown Eyes” received golden certification and got into top 100 of various charts, including Canadian and Irish singles chart.

In 2013, Simpson released his second studio album Surfers Paradise. The album was more successful than the predecessor and reached the 25th spot of the Australian ARIA chart as well as the 2nd spot on the Canadian album chart.

In 2015, Cody left Atlantic Records and signed a contract with Bananbeat records. The same year, he released his third studio album Free. It reached the 74th spot of the Australian ARIA chart.
Besides reaching big heights in music, for someone so young, Cody has an impressive filmography. He mostly played himself in various TV series and a few films. In 2015, Cody announced that he was taking a break from his solo music career to establish his own band.
