  • Pink’s real name is Alecia Beth Moore. She was born in Pennsylvania on 8 September 1979. Alecia’s father played the guitar so she was enjoying music since babyhood. When Moore was young, she was already planning a star-studded career in the rock music industry. Alecia was inspired by such celebrities as Madonna, 2Pac, and Whitney Houston. When she was in high school, Alecia worked with several teenage bands. That’s when she got her nickname “Pink”, which later turned into a pseudonym. Contrary to the popular opinion, the nickname didn’t stick to the girl due to her wild hair color. When she was young, Alecia was very shy and blushed a lot, hence the nickname.

In the early childhood, Pink was diagnosed with asthma, which became one of the problems she constantly needed to battle throughout her career. Her mother called Alecia’s lyrics dark and nervous. However, the girl wasn’t about to give up her dream. At 14, she started performing in the local clubs. In 1995, Alecia Moore formed an R&B band with other girls. They called it Choice. The band sent its debut single “Key To My Heart” to LaFace Records in Atlanta. Soon, they were invited for an audition and were offered a contract. The group members agreed. Choice didn’t have a long career. They disbanded in 1998 without releasing any albums. However, Alecia continued working with LaFace Records. She began a solo career and adopted her childhood pseudonym, Pink.

  • In 2000, Pink released her debut LP Can't Take Me Home. All songs were recorded in her favorite R&B style, including the first single “There You Go”, which reached the 7th spot on Billboard Hot 100. The next year, Pink released her second album, Missundaztood. Both albums were popular and commercially successful in the USA and all over the world. It became tough to book Pink for any event. In 2003, the singer released her next LP, Try This. It wasn’t as commercially successful as her previous work but turned out to be very popular. It featured the single “Trouble”, which brought Pink a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.

In 2006, Pink recorded I’m Not Dead. Many songs from the album appeared on the world charts. In 2008, she released Funhouse, which sold 7 million copies worldwide. It featured a single, “So What”, which conquered many world charts. The singer received a variety of awards and nominations. She topped the Billboard Magazine’s list of the best pop-artists of 2000 – 2010. Her music videos were very popular as well. She earned 7 MTV Video Music Awards. Pink also holds three Grammies, two Brit Awards, and 5 Billboard Music Awards.

In 2009, Pink settled on the six position of the best-paid artists list. Back then, she was earning $36 million per year for her work in the music industry. Besides singing, between 2000 and 2016, Pink appeared in nine movies. In many of them, she played herself. In 2017, Pink recorded her last album to date, Beautiful Trauma, which conquered the charts in the USA, UK, Canada, and many other countries.Pink is actively working on her music career.
