Hozier

Hozier (Andrew Hozier-Byrne) was born on March 17, 1990, in Ireland. He is a singer and a songwriter mostly famous for such songs as “Take Me To Church” and “From Eden”. Even though Andrew is rather young, he already managed to gain huge popularity in his native Ireland and all over the world. He performed as part of several bands, including Anuna and Zaska but decided that a solo career suits him better. When Andrew was young, he was accepted to Trinity College in Dublin, which allowed him to get a start in the music career. However, he dropped out after the first semester. Hozier said that he didn’t have time for studying since he was constantly getting job offers. Soon after leaving college Andrew started working with Niall Breslin, a popular Irish pop musician. The same year, Andrew was accepted into Trinity Orchestra, where most of the students from Trinity College performed. He soon became one of the leading vocalists and performed the songs of such famous artists as Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. He also took part in the famous video The Dark Side of the Moon (2012).

While working with Trinity Orchestra, Anuna, Zaska, and Nova Collective, Andrew found some time to write his own songs and music. In 2013, Hozier released his first EP Take Me To Church. The EP became an overnight hit. It reached the 107th spot on Billboard 200. Andrew recorded most of the songs himself. Occasionally, he invited a few friends to help recording. In 2014, Hozier released his first studio album Hozier. It topped Irish albums chart, came in second on Billboard 200, Belgian and Canadian charts. The LP sold a million copies worldwide and received ten platinum certifications. A single from that album “Someone New” reached 13th spot on Irish Singles Chart and received two golden certifications. In 2015, Hozier recorded a song “Better Love” for the movie The Legends of Tarzan. He continues to record new songs and music and performs live.
