Foster the People was established in 2009, in Los Angeles, California. This indie pop band is mostly famous for their songs “Pump Up Kicks” and “Don’t Stop (Color On the Walls)”. The current band members are Mark Foster and Mark Pontius. Another band member Cubbie Fink left the group in 2015. The band holds various awards, including Billboard, SharkOne, and WEQS Awards. Their songs were nominated for Grammy awards three times.
Mark Foster moved to Los Angeles when he was still a teenager. He knew that he needed to pursue a music career but had a hard time rising to the popularity. The fame finally came to Foster when he established the band initially called Foster& The People, but the “&” was eventually dropped.
In 2010, Foster The People released their first single “Pumped Up Kicks” and it became a hit virtually overnight. The song topped US Alternative and Rock music chart and reached the 3rd spot on Billboard Hot 100. The number of platinum certifications received by this single exceeds 20.

Foster The People’s story is a classic example of the overnight fame. One day they were struggling for contracts and the next day Foster was worrying that his mailbox would burst from the overflow of fans’ letters. The same year, the band signed a contract with Startime International. 2010 was a tour year for Foster The People. They were also nominated for two Grammy Awards.
In 2011, the band released their first album Torches. The LP was very popular in the United States and Europe. It topped Austrian music chart and reached the 8th spot on the Billboard 200. The album received three platinum and two golden certifications.
In 2014, Foster The People released their second studio album Supermodel. The album was more successful than the predecessor and reached the 3rd spot of Billboard 200. The most popular single from that album “Coming of Age” didn’t make it into Billboard Hot 100 but topped Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
The band is currently working on the third album and getting ready for 2018 world tour.
