Marsha Ambrosius

Marsha Ambrosius (8 August 1977) is a singer and songwriter from Liverpool, who began her career in the band Floetry together with Natalie Stewart. The young women met at The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Marsha was studying business and finances while Natalie was learning arts and media. After BRIT, the young women went their separate ways. They haven’t seen each other for several years but always kept in touch. At the end of the 1990s, Stewart formed a poetry group 3 Plus 1, which became popular in Birmingham, London, and Manchester. In 1999, Marsha wrote a single "Fantasize" for the publishers at Perfect Songs. The lyrics were based on Stewart’s poetry. That’s how young women started working together. They formed a duo called Floetry. In 2000, the artists performed at the poet gatherings in the USA. A while later, they moved to Philadelphia where they worked with Touch Of Jazz studio. The duo got a priceless opportunity to sing as back vocalists for Michael Jackson’s song “Butterflies” from the LP, Invincible.

The artists released several successful singles, "Floetic", "Say Yes", and "Getting Late". All of them became part of the debut LP, Floetic. In 2003, the group released a new LP, Floacism. Two years later, Flo'Ology came out. The band fell apart in 2005. Marsha was often invited to record songs for other artists. Among them were Styles P with his single "I'm Black", rapper The Game with his track "Start from Scratch", Busta Rhymes with "Get You Some", and many others. In 2006, the singer got an offer to sign a contract with Aftermath Entertainment label, which belonged to Dr. Dre. That’s how her solo career took off. In 2007, the singer released a solo mixtape, Neo Soul is Dead. Two years later, Marsha started getting offers for writing songs and producing singles for such R&B artists as Mario, Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys, and Fabolous.

In 2009, Marsha got new offers from several labels to help her continue her solo career as a singer. All of them were interested in taking part in the artist’s upcoming concert in SOB in New York. At the end of the year, Ambrosius signed a contract with J Records. In the spring of 2011, she finally released the debut LP, Late Nights & Early Mornings. The lead single was "Hope She Cheats On You (With A Basketball Player)". It reached the 22nd spot on Billboard Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Songs Chart. The second single “Far Away” topped the charts. At that time, many organizers tried to book Marsha Ambrosius for private events.
At 2011 BET Awards, Marsha earned Centric Award. Next year, at BET Awards 2012, she was nominated for Best Female R&B Artist. The singer earned numerous awards and nominations throughout her career. She was nominated for Grammy Awards twice for her single “Far Away”.

In the summer of 2014, the artist released a new LP, Friends & Lovers, which brought her two nominations for MOBO Awards. The album featured such successful singles as "So Good", "Night Time", "Shoes", and "You & I". In March 2017, the singer released a new single "Don't Wake the Baby", produced by Dem Jointz. Marsha called it a song for Beyoncé. After the release, Marsha announced a new tour, which she embarked on with the American singer Eric Benet. In May, the artist presented the first single “Luh Ya”, which was to become a part of a new album. It was recorded with an independent label. In the summer of 2018, Marsha released one more single “Old Times”. It came in 17th on Billboard Adult R&B Chart. The LP, Nyla, came out in the fall together with the third single “Flood”.
