Rolling Stones

The rock band Rolling Stones was formed in England, in 1962. The current lineup includes Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood. The band is particularly famous for such hits as “It’s All Over Now”, “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”, and “Mixed Emotions”. Rolling Stones hold numerous awards, including several Grammies.

The Rolling Stones is one of the most famous and “long-lasting” bands in the world. Its story began in 1962. Initially, the band’s leader was Brian Jones but with time, he was replaced by a creative duo of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. They were joined by a keyboardist Ian Steward, drummer Charlie Watts, and bass guitarist Bill Wyman.

The band’s early albums, such as The Rolling Stones, 12x5, and Out of Our Heads mostly included cover versions of American blues and R&B songs. However, they still managed to bring The Rolling Stones huge popularity making them one of the leaders of the “British Invasion”. During their tour in North America, the tour manager introduced the band as the greatest rock and roll group in the world. Thanks to their bad boy image, Rolling Stones became an opposition to the good boy image of The Beatles. Starting with the album Aftermath (1966), the songs written by Richards and Jagger were complemented by the instrumental experiments done by Jones. But in 1969, Jones was fired and soon died. He was replaced by Mick Taylor. The Rolling Stones lineup changed several times throughout their long career. When Taylor left in 1974, the Stones invited Ron Wood. Wyman quit in 1993. Steward left in 1963 but kept working as a tour manager and keyboardist until his death in 1985.
