Mikhail Pletnev, born on April 14, 1957, in Arkhangelsk, Russia, is a celebrated pianist, conductor, and composer. He displayed prodigious musical talent from a young age, entering the Central School of Music at the Moscow Conservatory at just 13. Under the tutelage of the renowned pianist and teacher Yakov Flier, Pletnev's career blossomed. In 1978, Pletnev gained international acclaim by winning the Gold Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. In 1990, Pletnev founded the Russian National Orchestra (RNO), becoming its first principal conductor.
